Soap & Glory - Mist You Madly

"Featuring notes of bergamot, blackcurrant, magnolia, freesia, vanilla and musk. Application of this mist may bestow the wearer with a newfound and haughty kind of self-confidence, triggering uncontainable fits of flirtatiousness. Mist at your own risk"

This scent does all of the above. I riskily bought this scent on a recommendation from a friend without trying it first. I must say, the bottle had me at hello! It's pink! And a lovely shade of pink at that! I'm a lover of body mists and this has to be the most aromatic mist i have ever used. It also has the staying power of a perfume. Along with the cooling sensation that body mists should have! The perfect mist to take along with you to the beach, a night out or anywhere really! Even in the winter I like to spray this over my scarves and this leaves a trail of sumptuous smelling goodness in your wake. It does make heads turn. I've sprayed this, gone out shopping and have had strangers compliment me on the smell. Overall, brilliant body mist and highly recommended!

Summer in the sand

I haven't blogged in a little while... even though I'm relatively new to the whole thing. But i thought I'd share why. Summer. Summer gets me out and about and the less time I sit at home and the more time i spend in the sun does my physical and mental health a whole lotta good! So i thought I'd show you all a few pictures of my summer so far.

Poole Quay - Summer nights! My home

I must say I think I live in one of the most beautiful places in the UK. Right on the south coast of England, one of the world's biggest natural harbours. I've lived here my whole life and I still can't get over how beautiful it is here. But I thought I'd post a few of the firework display I went to on the harbour last night. We are lucky enough to have weekly firework displays throughout the summer on Thursdays along Poole harbour and Fridays along Bournemoth beach. I'm so proud to be from dorset :)

Barry M - Sequin Effect Nails - White

I cannot tell you how excited I was to find this on the Barry M section in Boots yesterday. But I can
tell you it's something inbetween seeing a tiny kitten for the first time and seeing a beautiful, hunky man... I don't know.
It was somewhere between cute and OMG. And like a hunky man, I knew I HAD  to have it!
So i Bought it.

Firstly i think, yay it looks beautiful, I can't wait to wear it. Then looking  for the name of the product all it says is... wait for it... white. Okay, the name's quite boring. Can this lack of imagination be forgiven by the actual product?!

Painting on the first coat, it goes on well, and there is a generous flow of sprinkles across the nail, but the colour, is quite sheer... and contains some sort of a gritty texture. Like sand. Or if any of you have tried any of Seventeen's 'Rock Hard Nails' varnishes, it feels like that, but grittier. If that makes any sense. I'm not a fan of gritty textures on my nails. Now, I decided to put another coat on top, and it made the effect pictured above. I'm not a huge fan, as it did leave that gritty texture, and the colour was uneven in places.

Even through these bad points I still love the product! I do recommend to put a coat along with the same colour shade as a base coat underneath this varnish and using a couple of  top coats to kind of nullify the gritty texture. Gritty texture on nails for me, is just like chewing cotton wool. I think I have an aversion to it. And now I'm getting goosebumps thinking about it. I will definitely keep using this product, the colour is just too pretty not to, but I will experiment to get it perfect for me.

Tuesday FOTD

I was feeling very tired of my boring straight hair so I went all va va voom with some curls! My hair is quite short and my Remington Pearl 32mm curling tongs just give me a strange wave. I don't like them. I'll wait until my hair has grown out somewhat before I go back to them I think.

But today, i opted for my straighteners to curl my hair. I use Remington Ceramic slim straighteners. These gave my hair a nice curl and it literally took about 10 minutes to do my whole head (another 5 to do some touch-ups) and i'm impressed. I also used my Lee Stafford heat protecting spray to protect my hair, a necessary step for this style, and sprayed a tiny amount of Schwarzkopf Silhouette super hold hair spray to keep the style for a while. (poet!)

Meanwhile on my face i used....

Rimmel Metal Rush

So, i'm pretty slow on the uptake with these, but I can admit these nail varnishes have escaped my attention until now! About a year after release! But, better late than never.

The two I was drawn to are 60 Royal Blue, and 100 Pearly Queen.

Now, I know these varnishes were released in line for autumn 2012... but I really don't think these are autumn colours at all. Firstly, for the varnishes to work to the best of their metallic/colour changing standard, I've found they need to have a hit of natural light. and, you know, England in the autumn... not much sun, at all. Even in fluorescent light the colour changing is hard to pick out unless you make the effort to wiggle your fingers in different directions to catch the light. I found myself raising my hand higher and higher towards the light to show my friends the effect of the nail varnish, even then they weren't that impressed. Until they saw the varnish the next day, in sunlight, that was when the magic of the varnish was noticed.

First off we have Pearly Queen. I LOVE this varnish. I was drawn to it's greeny, pinky, goldy colour automatically on the shelf in Boots. But i must admit, when it came to applying the varnish, i was somewhat disappointed in the coverage. One coat was sheer, and I personally think it took 3 coats of the stuff to get what seemed like a good coverage to notice the colour changing effect. Sometimes, things do look better in the bottle.

I didn't mind putting on 3 coats, as I had some spare time on my hands, but I don't know if I'll wear this varnish much, taking the time to apply 3 coats of varnish is draining. But the effect is nice. I may try wearing this varnish over a white base coat, this might make the colour stand out more. I think i'll try that...

Royal blue... I LOVE LOVE LOVE this! One coat and i could see the duo colours of green and purple coming through strong, but again this was quite transparent, one more coat though and it was opaque and perfect. I love this colour, it reminds me of  iridescent beetles! Google them! It's just a beautiful colour, and I personally would enjoy wearing this colour more in the summer, it's not a winter colour at all in my eyes.

All in all, these are beautiful nail varnishes, and Rimmel varnishes are amazing, and these don't prove otherwise. For £3.99 each... you just can't complain. Well done Rimmel...

Grey Days...

Days like these, when the sun is hidden behind the grey clouds and life is feeling stressful, the only thing that can relax and comfort me is a nice relaxing bath.

Give me a cup of fruit tea, chocolate bar, face mask, bubbles, scented candle and a good book and i'm in the zone for a soak. I'll emerge in 1-2 hours...

Bliss
